Many extracurricular activities, field trips, clubs, musicals and the use of advanced technology in the classrooms has made Wilkes Barre Academy one of the highest academic and elite schools in the greater Wilkes Barre Area, but all this could be found on the website. What cannot be found on the website is the small, close knit community that surrounds this school. Students can learn by reading from a book but what is taught outside of books is what separates this school from the others. Teamwork learned at Bear Creek Camp, responsibility learned in the science room and most importantly respect which is modeled by the office staff every day. As an alumnus, I have many fond memories, long lasting friendships that became more like family, teachers who still remember me by name 15 years later and the ability to say proudly, "I am a graduate of Wilkes Barre Academy". I am currently a Behavioral Therapist working with special needs children and every time we read Dr. Seuss, I pick my favorite book, Oh, the Places You'll Go! This book always makes me think of Cappie and Cletta, who were like my 2nd mothers. "So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life's A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you'll move mountains," Dr. Seuss wrote this but Wilkes Barre Academy taught it and has inspired me to live it every day.

New My time at Wilkes-Barre Academy brought me not only a strong education but everlasting friendships. A fellow alumni was my maid of honor in my wedding.

The experience and education I received at Small Wonders and Wilkes-Barre Academy prepared me for the many challenges I faced throughout my life. I believe early childhood education is the key in the foundation for success.
