The roots of our school have always been to help support working parents. Since Wilkes-Barre Academy began in 1987, we have always provided care before and after school in order to care for our students’ needs outside of school hours.
Parents have 3 choices for care based on their need as a family.
Before Care Only
Before care allows parents to drop-off for care as early as 6:30 am when our center opens up until school begins at 8:45. Before care is only when school is in session. It does not include snow delay days, holidays, in-service days. Parents follow the school calendar.
Single Student
After Care Only
After care is considered to be the time after school from 3:30-5:30. Parents that have work schedules that permit drop off after 8:15 choose this option. Students that stay after school for care participate in our scheduled homework room time and outside play when weather permits. For working parents, this time allows for the student to get homework support after school before pick-up. After care is only when school is in session. It does not include snow days, holidays, in-service days. Parents follow the school calendar for these days.
Single Student
Before & After Care
Before and after care is used as needed. The center opens at 6:30 am and closes at 5:30 pm daily. Parents choose time needed and care includes up to 9 ½ hours per day Monday-Friday.
This option includes all days the building is open including snow school closed days, snow delays, snow early dismissal, holidays, teacher in-service days, etc. When the building is open, care is available.
