Our informal program deals basically with the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes and a monthly theme dealing with such topics... as seasons, holidays, home address and phone numbers, safety, etc.
The formal educational program offered at Small Wonders is much more stringent, however. Our preschool and Pre-K deal in depth with the same topics, as the informal program, as well as, vowels, phonetics, numerical concepts, geography and Spanish.
Small Wonders, as with any good daycare school, also recognized the need for exercise. We are equipped with many pieces of large muscles equipment and the children are encouraged to utilize their times of free play to their best advantage. Each class also has the opportunity to participate in music and art classes. In this respect, Small Wonders strives to insure each child the best "all-around" education possible.
With the increase in working parents today, it has become essential that good child care be provided at the least possible expense. Small Wonders was established to offer that assistance to parents. Small Wonders was established in October, 1978 and has grown from a small Day Care of four staff to a large Day Care School, housed in a newly constructed schoolhouse with sixteen staff. Over the years, Small Wonders has grown due to an increasing need from our parents. this growth as allowed Small Wonders to incorporate many new programs into our Day Care School. These programs include an Educational for Preschool and Pre-K, Certification by the Child Care Food Program, as well as private contracting through the Child Development Council for subsidized day care.
