PTO Meeting Minutes

March 18, 2019

PTO Meeting called to order at 5pm in the school cafeteria by Lisa Barth, PTO President. 

Treasurer’s Report:  Current balance is 3,412.86.  This amount does reflect the current available balance.

PTO News:


Night at the Races: 

*Forms have been sent home to everyone.  Additional forms are available outside of the office. 

*Volunteer lists are hanging on the PTO board in the Kindergarten Entrance Door.  Please consider signing up to volunteer.  It is a great way to meet your fellow SW/WBA parents.

*If you obtain a corporate sponsorship you will get 20% of the money back from PTO in the form of a voucher to be used towards tuition or other school expenses. 

*The Horse bulletin board is up in the cafeteria.  It will be updated regularly.  Please get your horses in and support your class.  The winning class will win a pizza party.

*Horses are due back no later than April 5th!!

*All raffles and sponsors are needed by April 5th.

March 19th is a PTO sponsored snack day.  There will be cookies and snacks provided for all the children of SW/WBA.


March 29th is the PTO sponsored pizza day.  A huge thank you to Ms. Debbie and Tommy’s Pizza for helping with this event.  If you are interested in volunteering on pizza day, please call Lisa at 570.430.6674.


Teacher Appreciation: We will be celebrating our fabulous teachers on May the 7th.  A planning meeting will be held after the night at the races.  We do provide a luncheon and need volunteers to cover the children’s lunches that day.  If you are interested in volunteering or making something, please call Lisa at 570.430.6674 and watch for more information to be posted.  Thank you.


Book Fair:  Thank you to Ms. Donetta and all of the volunteers for putting on the Scholastic Book Fair again this year.  It is greatly appreciated.  Total sales for the fair excluding tax was $5,440.78.  The school keeps $1,000 cash and $720.39 in Scholastic Dollars.  All money goes back into the library.  Thanks again, Ms. Donetta!


Vouchers:  The voucher committee welcomed two new volunteers.  Angela Shinal and Davina Sims, both Kindergarten parents.  Welcome and thank you for your service.


Ski Club:  This will be the last week for skiing.  A big thank you to Laura Cackowski and Terri Smith for all of their hard work with the ski club!!


Science Olympiad:  Mrs. Robasky reported that we came in 4th place at Regionals and will be advancing to States on April 27th.  Congratulations to the entire team!!  Best of luck and congratulations to Mrs. Robasky, the WBA team and Parent Volunteers!! PTO will be reimbursing the team for the cost of last year’s bus, as was approved last year.  We ranked higher than schools like:  Wyoming Seminary, Lake-Lehman, Valley West, Crestwood, North Pocono, Hazleton and others. 


Drama:  The new shed was delivered and looks great.  Thanks to the PTO for assisting with the purchase. 


Glee Club:  A big thank you to all who came out to the Applebee’s breakfast and the Penguins game to support the glee club.  The Glee Club will be performing at the Rail-Riders game on April 14th. Tickets will be $10.


Academics:  Mrs. Huntzinger announced that Liam Wittkopp was the winner of the Geography Bee and Gopal Patel was the winner of the Spelling Bee. Congratulations, well done!!  Mrs. Huntzinger thanked PTO for supplying Amazon Gift Cards to the winners.

*Report cards going out on March 26th.

*April 9-11th is National Testing.  No make-up dates.  Please try to have your children at school on these dates.

*Spring Break is April 17-22.

*April 25th the 5th grade will be going on a walking tour of Philadelphia.  On May 17th the 6-8th grades will be going to the Metropolitan Museum, NYC, for the field trip. 

*May 14th-16th is the 6th grade science fair.

*March 25th is the 4th grade science fair.


Student Council:  April 12th will the Bunny Hunt for grades Pre-K through 4th.  April 24th is the Earth Day Cleanup Project.

The Student Council gave gift cards to winners.  Thank you to student council for all of their dedication and hard work.
