Regular Meeting Begins: Meeting called to order at 5:02 pm in the school cafeteria by Lisa Barth, PTO President. Motion to accept prior meeting minutes was made by Terri Smith and Toni Radziewicz seconded the motion.
Treasurer Report: Brittany Holly, PTO Treasurer confirmed a balance of $18,999.28.
New Business: Elections for PTO Officers were held. Lisa Barth was re-elected as President, Kristen Cooper was re-elected as Vice President, and Brittany Holly was re-elected as Treasurer. Audra Hughes was elected as Secretary. End of
The Year Party: Kindergarten through 7th Grade will have an Ice Cream Party on Tuesday, June 05, 2018. Please watch for ice cream selection papers to be coming home and return. Thank you. Small Wonders Ice Cream Party & Bounce House Day will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Teacher Appreciation Day: The annual luncheon was held last week. Thanks to all of the volunteers who cooked, baked, watched lunches or classrooms. Ms. Yale extended a big thank you to all! The teacher’s and staff appreciated it.
Vouchers: Terri Smith announced the summer voucher sale dates have been posted up outside the office and also emailed. Voucher slips are only good for one year so get them in!
Ski Club: Laura Cackowski reports that Terri Smith will be helping her with ski club next year. The end of season ice cream social was held, and Hoodies have been ordered for eligible skiers. You do need to attend 3 ski club events to be eligible for the ice cream party.
Upper School Spring Fling: Ms. Yale announced that the children had a wonderful time at this years annual Spring Fling. See the pictures on WBA Facebook Page. It was a great night!
Glee Club: Glee Club Competition at Dorney Park. The WBA GLEE CLUB received the distinct honor of the spirit de corps award. This award is presented to a school who demonstrates proper social behavior as well as musical behavior/encouragement. They possess the qualities of highly successful people who are sensitive to the feelings of others and applaud accomplishments no matter if by one’s school or another school. All schools are eligible for this award, but only one group per competition day will have the honor of taking this trophy with them. Thank you to Mrs. Sullick for all her hard work with the children. Incredible accomplishment. Hannah Fox was awarded the best student accompanist honor. Robert Decker was awarded the best solo vocalist. Both were chosen from all choirs competing that day including high schools. Well done!!
WBA Fourth Grade Recorder Recital: Fourth Grade Recorder Recitals will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 in the cafeteria at 1:30 PM.
Field Day: WBA Field Day will be held Thursday, May 24, 2014 for Grades 7th and 8th. A variety of fun games will be played outside.
Upper School Field Trip: Mrs. Huntzinger stated that Grades 6th through 8th will be going to The Bronx Zoo for a Field Trip this Friday, May 25, 2018.
WBA Annual Fall Festival: A motion was made by Lisa Barth to have the Annual Fall Festival on September 29, 2018. Mrs. Huntzinger seconded the motion.
Education: Kindergarten Graduation: Mrs. Sholtis announced that Kindergarten Graduation will be held at Misericordia University on Wednesday, June 06, 2018 at 4:30 pm.
National Testing: Mrs. Huntzinger mentioned that National Testing results were mailed out. If you have any questions regarding please see Mrs. Huntzinger.
WBA Night at The Races: Lisa Barth announced that WBA Annual Night at The Races raised $6,773.01. Ms. Yale and Cappie thanked everyone for their help and contributions for making this event possible. Laura Cackowski thanked everyone for the opportunity for 8 grade to raise money at Night of The Races.
Heifer International: Ms. Yale announced that our school raised the following for Heifer International We are sending a girl to school, giving the gift of clean water, giving a gift of honey bees, giving a flock of chicks and giving a gift of ducks and geese. Thank you for your donations!
Academic Activities: Student Council: Ms. Yale announced that Student Council is finished for this year. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 is a Student Council Dress Down Day. Save The Date Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am Applebee’s Fundraiser.
Science Olympiad: Ms. Robasky reported that the students did go to states this year, although they did not medal. Competition was fierce. Congratulations to all the students and parents who participate in this fantastic event. On Wednesday, May 23, 2018 a pizza party donated by Pizza Bella will be held for Science Olympiad. Ms. Robasky also thanked the PTO for support with the bus.
Upper School Science Fair: WBA held the Middle School Science Fair May 8th -10th. The students used the scientific method to design and perform experiments on a variety of challenging topics. All students in the sixth grade learned proper experimental design and used their computer skills to produce data tables, graphs, and Power Point presentations. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and participants. You’ve all done a great job!
