PTO Minutes of Meeting

Time: 5:00 pm

Regular Meeting Begins:

Meeting called to order at 5:03 pm in the cafeteria by Jessica Richmond, PTO President. Jessica welcomed everyone to our WBA/Small Wonders PTO meeting. Tara Gwillian Gorski made a motion to accept the minutes and Beth Quarters seconded the motion. All present were in favor of accepting the minutes. 


  • Grazia DelleCave states that the PTO Treasury Balance is $16859.38.
  • Grazia let us know that 8th grade is now in the positive side, and their balance is currently 1913.23.
  • Motion to accept the treasurers report made by Davina Sims, seconded by Mrs. O’Toole.



  • A motion was made to bypass the reading of the minutes from the last meeting and to accept them. Motion was made by Tara Gwillian Gorski and seconded by Beth Quarters.


New Business:

  • Student Teacher - Daniel McCloe, from Western Governor’s University student teaching with Mrs. O’Toole, helping out with Middle School Math.
  • Vouchers – Angela Shinal let us know that in January we will be going paperless. An email was sent out describing how this would work. No more order forms will be used. All orders will be online. You can still pay with a check. E-Gift Cards will only be available once the check is entered into the system by the Voucher Committee the gift card will be available.
    • Less than 20% of the school participates in this program, it’s a great way to earn money off your tuition.
    • 2021 credit slips are expiring at the end of December, use them before you lose them.
    • A Motion was made to distribute the credit slips quarterly, instead of monthly by Angela Shinal, accepted by Grazia DelleCave and seconded by Beth Quarters.
    • If you would like to volunteer to help the committee or have questions on the new process please email or contact any of the members:

  • Box Tops/Amazon Smile
    • Kristin MacDonald reported a total of $252.10 were earned since July 2022. That’s an increase of $217.10 since our last meeting! Keep scanning your receipts to earn more Box Tops! If you have any questions on how to scan your receipts let Kristin know.
      • 1st grade is in the lead, they have collected 1415 Box Tops, 2nd grade collected 432, and 3rd grade has 154.
      • Amazon Smile– Discussed how to sign up for the program and how to purchase items on Amazon using this program. Jessica sent out a reminder email on 11/22. See Jessica or Kristin if you need assistance.


  • Education
    • Mrs. Yale advised that report cards went out recently and reminded parents to contact teachers if you have any questions or concerns on your children’s performance, study tips, etc.
    • Progress Reports go out on December 4, 2022.
    • Plays will be held on January 14th.
    • Keep an eye on papers coming home for upcoming events and activities!
    • The yearly tuition deposit letter will be sent out November 22.


  • Weather Alerts – text messages will go out in the event of weather closures, delays or dismissals. Make sure you have a cell phone number in your emergency contact information, or you won’t receive the texts. The alerts will also be on the local news stations.
    • The school will follow your emergency procedures for dismissal that you filled out at the beginning of the year. Please ensure your children know the procedures.
    • Please do not call the office to change these procedures. They will be very busy on those days coordinating with the bus companies to schedule pick up.


  • Science Olympiad  
    • Mrs. Celestine let us know that the students have chosen their events.
    • They are still in need of mentors. Mentors do not have to be subject matter experts in the Science field. If you would like to help or find out more information, please contact Mrs. Celestine or Mrs. O’Toole.


  • Ski Club
    • Emails with the Ski Club information have gone out, will run the same as last year.
    • Snow Tubing night will happen again this year, more information to come on the date.  


  • Student Council
    • Mrs. Zapoticky advised student council has completed two fundraisers so far this year.
      • Blue Chip – raised $203 and 2 car loads full of donations.
      • Allied Services – raised $324 to donate to this cause. Audra Hughes thanked everyone for donating to the cause. She let us know what Allied Services does for their patients. Jessica thanked Audra for her hard work and running in the NYC Marathon to also raise money for this cause.
      • Next Skating party is January 19th. There is school the next day.


  • PTO Events
    • Holiday Raffle – Raised $8,040 so far. All money and ticket stubs must be in by December 5th at 9 am. December 5th is the first drawing. There are enough prizes to do 2 prizes per day, some days will have 3 prizes. The Facebook event will be updated this week with more prizes.
      • All prizes have been donated by businesses and parents. The only money spent on this raffle was the tickets.
      • Holiday Shop – December 5-8th. If you would like to volunteer, please see your homeroom parent or teacher.5th and 3rd grades need more volunteers.
      • Cookies and Cocoa – December 23rd for students and staff.If anyone would like to donate items for this, please let Jessica know. The Grinch, Frosty and Mrs. Claus will be making appearances throughout the day as well.
      • Blaze Pizza – we will have a Blaze Pizza night for the next skating party on January 19th. They will give the PTO 20% back on all purchases that evening.

Other Topics:

  • Next meeting will be held Monday, January 23, 2023.

  *Please note that children can come to PTO meetings with their parents. They will be in a separate area during the meeting*.

  • Motion made to end the meeting at 5:33 pm by Melissa McCaffrey and Mrs. O’Toole seconded the motion.
